How to Read and Remove Photo EXIF Data

Check a photo for camera details and GPS, then download a copy with that metadata removed.

Using the free tool while you read? Open EXIF Viewer & Remover.

See what the photo is carrying

Upload a JPEG, PNG, or WebP. The tool lists the camera, lens, exposure, and any coordinates stored in the file. The photo stays in the browser.

A location box means the file has GPS. Open the map only if you want to confirm the place. Do not post that original file if the location should stay private.

Download the clean copy

Download clean image removes EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC, and comments. JPEG, PNG, and WebP are not re-encoded, and a color profile is kept so the picture does not shift.

HEIC and GIF cannot be stripped the same way. Export a JPEG from the camera roll first if you need those details removed without a visual change.
